Angler found dead in lake near Hantsport

The 83-year-old man wasn't wearing a life-jacket, but police are awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

An 83-year-old angler reported missing overnight was found dead Thursday morning in a lake near the border of Kings and Hants counties.

Kings District RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Jennifer Clarke said the Lockhartville man had left his home to go fishing at Davidson Lake in Bishopville on Wednesday afternoon. His family reported him missing just after midnight.

RCMP, Hants County Ground Search and Rescue, and firefighters from Hantsport, Windsor and Brooklyn went to the lake to search for the man. His body was found in the water shortly before 3 a.m.

Clarke said the man wasn't wearing a life-jacket but that doesn't necessarily mean he drowned. An autopsy will take place.
