Driver airlifted to hospital after Highway 101 crash

Fire crews cut the roof off the car to remove the driver after the car ended up on its side in the eastbound lanes of the highway.

One person was airlifted to hospital after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 101 in Avonport on Monday afternoon.

Firefighters from Wolfville and Hantsport were called to the scene, along with paramedics and RCMP, just after 3 p.m.

The car ended up on its side near Exit 9.

Fire crews cut the roof off the car to remove the driver after the crash in the eastbound lanes of the highway. 

The LifeFlight helicopter landed nearby and the patient was airlifted to hospital in Halifax.

The highway was closed while police investigated and a street sweeper was brought in to clear debris from the road.
