Fire over the noon hour Thursday caused significant damage to a Kings County home.
Waterville and District firefighters were called to the home on Waterville Mountain Road at about 12:40 p.m. after a passing postal delivery person spotted smoke coming from the bungalow, Chief Wayne Johnstone said.
Kentville and Berwick firefighters were also called to the scene.
Johnstone said the fire started in the laundry area and extended to another room.
“When we arrived there was heavy smoke and visible fire,” Johnstone said.
The flames were extinguished quickly, he said.
No one was home at the time.
Johnstone said investigators are looking at the possibility the fire was caused by an electrical issue. He said the owners said the dryer was not running when they left earlier.
There were no injuries. The owners had insurance.
