Halifax Regional Police are warning people to keep their valuables out of sight after a string of thefts from vehicles.

There have been 12 reports of such thefts in Clayton Park, Bayers Lake, Bedford and Ketch Harbour since Feb. 7.

"In all cases, attractive objects were left in plain sight, and vehicle windows were broken," police said in a news release Thursday.  "Most happened in the evening hours."

Thefts from vehicles are usually crimes of opportunity and expensive items such as phones and GPS units should not be left in view, police said.

Patrol and community response officers, as well as the quick response unit, will be monitoring the areas where the thefts have occurred.

Theft victims can call 902-490-5016. If you observe suspicious activity around vehicles, you can call 902-490-5020.
