A man accused of dragging an RCMP officer with his vehicle last month has been charged.
The 18-year-old Pictou County man was arrested Friday night, RCMP said in a news release.
A Pictou County District RCMP officer received minor injuries in the early hours of Feb. 25 when he was dragged several metres by a vehicle as it fled an early morning checkpoint.
Police were conducting the checkpoint at about 1:18 a.m. on Highway 4 near Hamilton Road in Alma when a driver stopped and briefly talked with an officer. The vehicle suddenly accelerated, catching the officer's shoulder and arm. He was dragged about 15 metres before he was able to free himself.
The suspect has been charged with·assaulting a police officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by police and driving while suspended.
The man was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Pictou provincial court on May 1.
Men assaulted, robbed in downtown Halifax
Two men were assaulted and robbed in downtown Halifax early Sunday.
The victims, aged 25 and 29, were found at the corner of Barrington and George streets at 3:41 a.m., Halifax Regional Police said in a news release.
One of the victims was unconscious while the other was conscious but bleeding from the face.
Police say at least four men assaulted and robbed the pair, taking one victim's wallet.
The suspects are described as black men between the ages of 25 and 28 years. One man was wearing green pants, a green vest and black sweater; a second man wore dark green pants and a dark sweater; a third wore black pants and a dark hooded sweatshirt; and a fourth man wore blue jeans and dark sweater.
The victims have been released from hospital but they will require further medical treatment, police said.

Dartmouth man hospitalized after stabbing
A man was taken to hospital Sunday morning after he was stabbed in Dartmouth.
Halifax Regional Police officers responded to a residence in the 0-100 block of Chebucto Lane at 5:07 a.m., police said in a news release Sunday. They found a man with two stab wounds but officers could not locate the residence or area where the incident had occurred.
The 26-year-old victim was taken to the QEII Health Sciences Centre with injuries that weren't life-threatening.
