A 19-year-old Saulnierville man is dead after his car plunged into a lake in Bangor, Digby County, late Sunday morning.
The car left the road and landed on its roof in Eel Lake, RCMP said in a news release Monday.
After the car was towed out of the lake, the victim was discovered and pronounced dead at the scene.
Also Sunday, an ATV passenger was taken to the Cumberland Regional Health Centre with serious injuries after a late-afternoon collision on McGee Street in Springhill, RCMP said.
The 19-year-old man from Amherst was hurt when the ATV he was riding on hit a pole. Cumberland RCMP say their initial investigation indicates the ATV was travelling "at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control on a turn."
The driver, 26, of Springhill, fled the scene but was later apprehended and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. RCMP say charges under the Off Highway Vehicle Act, Motor Vehicle Act and Criminal Code are pending against him.
