Searchers in Pictou County have found the body of a 19-year-old man who went missing while swimming with friends Friday afternoon.
RCMP said that members of the Pictou County ground search and rescue team found the man in the water at Park Falls at about 9 p.m. Friday.
Cpl. Andrew Joyce said the man was found in shallow water downstream from the pool.
Joyce said earlier in the day that a group of people were at the popular swimming location in Sutherlands River when the young man jumped into the water and didn't surface.
Friends started looking for him as someone else called 911 just after 3:30 p.m., Joyce said.
The location where the man went missing has a swimming area and a place where people dive or jump, he said.
The RCMP underwater recovery team was on the scene, along with firefighters from Thorburn and New Glasgow, the search and rescue team, and paramedics.
