Peterson, Kevin

PETERSON, Kevin Roy – Age 51, Cliff Street, Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at home with his loving wife by his side. Born September 21, 1965 in Truro, he was a son to the late Lawrence and Marjorie (Burgess) Peterson. Kevin was passionate about food and cooking, making it his lifelong profession. He was a wonderful cook and took great pride in his work. He worked at the Windlass Restaurant in Kelly’s Cove for many years until his illness prevented him from doing what he loved. Kevin was also a self-proclaimed “food critic” and that, mixed-in with a sharp sense of humour often made for interesting discussions and many laughs right up until the day he died. His other passion was sports, especially baseball, and whenever any playoff game was on, whether it was baseball or any other sport, anything and everything else took a back seat – he had to watch those playoff games! With all of that being said, Kevin also loved the peacefulness of lighthouses. He will be missed by his loving wife, Cathy (Nickerson) Peterson, as well as by his children, Ashley Rosnok, Sydney Mines; Kevin Dickison, Saint John, NB; Lance Muise, Yarmouth; “special daughter”, Michelle Adams, Digby; Cara Dale Duguay, Shediac River, NB; Maegan Smith, Peace River, AB, along with grandchildren, Xavier, Autumn, Landon and Charlotte. He is also survived by brothers, Hector, Yarmouth; Victor, Truro; Patrick, Carleton; Harlan, Alberta; sisters, Loretta Hurlburt, Yarmouth; Eva Forbes, Woods Harbour; Maryann Shea, Yarmouth. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Lorna Fenton, who passed away just last week. Visitation will take place from 7-9 Friday evening, followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 12, both at H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, Rev. Don Moses officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Tri-County Site of the VON (Palliative Care). The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Riley, Paula Watkins from Palliative Care and to the VON for the care they showed Kevin and his family throughout his illness.
